What we collect when you shop, pack or get in touch, why we need it, and how to take control of it.

Who we are

PackMap is the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@pack-map.com.

What we collect

Orders: your name, email, phone number, delivery address and what you bought. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.

Accounts: your name, email, a securely hashed password, your saved trips, packing lists and luggage tag designs.

Messages: anything you send through our contact form, custom map brief or reviews, including any files you upload.

Newsletter and coming soon lists: your email address and which maps you asked about.

If you pack as a guest, your packing list stays on your own phone. We do not see it unless you choose to join and sync it.

Why we use it

To fulfil your order and contract with you: taking payment, posting your map or tag, sending order and dispatch emails, and running your account and PackMap Plus.

Legal obligation: keeping sales records for tax and accounting.

Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, stopping spam and fraud, and replying to your messages.

Consent: our newsletter and coming soon emails. Every one has an unsubscribe link and you can ask us to remove you at any time.

Who we share it with

We only share what each service needs to do its job: Stripe for payments and billing, our hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider, and the courier carrying your parcel.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.

We never sell your data and we do not use advertising trackers.

How long we keep it

Account data stays while your account is open and is erased when you delete it.

Order and payment records are kept for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, because UK tax law requires it.

Messages and custom map briefs are kept for up to two years after our last contact, unless they become an order.

Cookies and storage

We only use storage that the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your bag and saving guest packing lists on your device. These are strictly necessary, so no cookie banner is needed. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent.

Members can download everything we hold about their account, or delete it, from Account, Settings, Your data. Anyone else can email hello@pack-map.com and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

Your connection to PackMap is encrypted, passwords are never stored in readable form, and every account can only read its own data. Access to order and customer details is limited to the PackMap team.
